Chalrton House – A Wartime Hospital

Step back in time to 1918 as Charlton House prepares itself to open as a Red Cross Auxiliary Wartime Hospital. With numbers of injured and wounded servicemen increasing, hospitals are over following and struggling to cope. In response large stately homes are being given over to the Red Cross to use as auxiliary wartime hospitals, places where the wounded can recover before going home. Ivy is here working hard so come and meet her and the many others working to help mend our wounded men…
Progress Estate – A Wartime Summer Fete and Picnic

Lovelace Green, Progress Estate, Eltham. 11am – 3pm
Fetes and Picnics were a popular pastime in Edwardian England. They were fun and exciting and a chance for war workers to have some fun and relax with family and friends. Join us and the Progress Residents Association to celebrate a wartime summer fete and picnic. With stalls selling cake and crafts, entertainment and even owls come along. Edwardian dress is optional but don’t forget a sun hat!
Greenwich Heritage Centre – The Arsenal at War and Rest
